About Arthur Eugene Ling, 73 years of age of Salmon, Idaho passed away on Tuesday, March 11, 2014. He was born on Monday, April 1, 1940 in Salmon the son of Art and Helen Ling. He spent most of his formative years in the Leadore country. He was a bull rider through his teens and early 20’s. He graduated from Leadore High School in 1958.
In 1959 Art joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a guard at the National Security Agency and a guard for President Kennedy during the Cuban Crisis. He was promoted to Private, decorated for rifle marksmanship and received the good conduct medal. He was discharged in May of 1963 and returned to Salmon.
In 1965 he married Linda Munkers. They divorced in 1981. He then met his best friend and soul mate Terry Anne Cooper.
Art worked for Champion Beam Plant for 17 years until it closed. He managed the Old Beam Plant Sales until it closed. He then worked with Terry at J & L for 13 years until he retired.
Art was a passionate outdoorsman. He was a lifetime trapper, hunter and fisherman. There wasn’t an animal he couldn’t trap. He drove in the Demo Derby for 18 years. He was the beloved father to Bret, Beau and Sean for over 33 years and a proud grandfather to Mad Dog.
He is survived by his wife Terry; his boys: Bret (Heidi) Weber of Arco, Beau (Melissa) Weber of Boise, Idaho and Sean Weber of Boise, Idaho; granddaughter Madelyn and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother Bob Banks and two sisters: Vivian Kane and Lila Blood.
