About | Gene was born April 26, 1940 at home in Salmon Idaho to Frank Allen Harris and Minnie Lee (Agee) Harris. He went home to be with his Lord on July 10th 2018. He was one of seven siblings, all born at home. Frank William, Floyd Duane, Leola Bell, Rosalie Elizabeth, Arnold James and adopted sister Gloria Park. Gene loved riding motorcycles and spent many years as a truck driver and a logger. He owned a chainsaw and small engine repair shop here in White Sulphur, and for the last 19 plus years, he has been the Sexton at the Mayn Cemetery. Gene was dad to Chyrl, Gene Jr. Nikki, Marcy, and grandchildren Temerald and Cristian Harris. He is survived by his wife of 49 years, Sandy Harris, all of his children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins from Montana, Utah, Washington, and Idaho. As well as several very close friends that are like family. Gene’s memorial services will be held at the Mountain View Community church on July 19th at 1 o’clock P.M. with Pastor Darwin Scofield officiating. Stevenson Wilke Funeral Homes After High School, Gene worked as a logger, timber faller, operated dozers and skid equipment, also drove logging truck off and on for about thirteen years. Several years over the highway hauling produce most of the western US, and parts of Alberta Canada, from Sweetgrass to Calgary, Edmonton, and points between, then two years on a Gamble Robinson "Banana" run. In the early 60's, drove tanker hauling C-190, a hot oil used for dams and ditch lining. Worked on Clark Canyon Dam and the large irrigation ditch that runs from the dam. Met Sandy Jean Brammer in Dillon in 1967, while she was going to Western College and was married in February 03, 1969, moved to White Sulphur Springs. The spring of 70, Johnsred Chain Saw Distributor, set Gene up in chain saw sales and service, and in a period of five years, along with small engines, Briggs and Stratton, Tecumseh, Kohler, Honda, and others, it became full time occupation. Due to the decline in the timber industry, closed the business in 1999, sold the building and was employed by Meagher County. Gene love to fish and hunt, and has two iceshacks, one is 4x8, and the other is 8x12, both having propane heat. Part of Gene’s toys is a 68 Caddy, and 74 Fiat X/19 he is restoring.
