| About | Myrtle Belle (Jackie) Baker, 70, of Lewiston, died Thursday, April 14, 2011, at Lewiston Rehabilitation and Care Center. Jackie was born May 26, 1940, at Salmon, Idaho, to (Bud) Town and Emily Hicks Town. Growing up in Salmon, she graduated from Salmon High School in 1958. Jackie married Milan Baker in 1967 at Lewiston, and they soon moved to Pierce, where Milan logged and they began raised their five children. They moved back to Lewiston in 1969 when Milan suffered a work injury. Jackie went to work in the kitchen at St. Joseph Hospital in August 1975 and continued her career there for the next 28 years as the baker; she was famous for her maple bars and cinnamon rolls. She loved her co-workers and considered them family. She loved nothing more than to go fishing with Milan when they would go camping, many times still sitting at the edge of the lake until dark. Her hobbies included flower gardening, crocheting and cross-stitching. Jackie was most known for helping everyone else before herself and making sure her family had what they needed before ever thinking about herself. Survived are her sons, Tommy Watson and wife Zarinah, Fred Watson and wife Jackie, and David Knowles and wife Chrissy, all of Lewiston; daughter Twila (Sam) Gill and husband Darren of Lewiston; brother Lee Town and wife Lauretta of Lewiston; and her grandchildren, Joel Watson, JaVonne Watson, Rhea-Mae Watson, Denise Clark, Ronald Waid, Kylee Gill and Blake Gill. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Milan Baker; and her daughter, Mary Knowles. A graveside memorial service will take place at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Lewis-Clark Memorial Gardens in Lewiston, with Rev. Steve Taulbee presiding. Malcom's Brower-Wann Funeral Home in Lewiston is handling arrangements. |
