About | With family by her side, our dear, sweet mom, Nancy Corum Heither, passed away on Wednesday, November 21, 2012, to join our Lord. Our mom has courageously lived with a terminal illness for over 15 years. Nancy Sue Corum, born on Thursday, June 6, 1940 in Salmon, Idaho, daughter of Earl Corum and Rose Snyder Corum. Nancy attended grade and high school in Salmon, Idaho, belonging to National Honor Society, Quill & Scroll and Class President, graduating in 1958. In the fall of 1958 she attended Boise Junior College, graduated in 1960, receiving an Associates Degree in secretarial science. Nancy was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority since 1968. In 1960 moved back to Salmon and began working for the Idaho First National Bank for the next two years, getting married on September 26, 1961 to David Heither. In January 1962, moved back to Boise began working for the Head Office of the Idaho First National Bank. Both of Nancy’s daughters were born in Boise, Karla in 1963 and Karin in 1965, and in the late spring of 1965, when Karin was about a month old, moved back to Salmon. Nancy was a stay at home mom for a couple of years, then started working for a short period of time for the State Health and Welfare Department before going back to work at the bank. Nancy stayed in Salmon for eight years before moving back to Boise. David and Nancy divorced in 1972. Daughters, Karla & Karin started school in Boise in the fifth and third grade and graduated from High School before going to college. Nancy continued to work for the bank until 1989 when she was transferred to the newly acquired Community Bank of Renton in Washington State. Worked in the Seattle area for the next seven years before returning back. By this time the Bank has seen many name changes and was now U.S. Bank. In June 1996 returned to Boise. At this time began having some health problems and by December was on disability. Was still an active employee at the bank but on Long-Term Disability. At this time the doctors thought Nancy had a type of cancer and began chemotherapy treatment. Later determined she had Amyloidosis, a rare disease that occurs when a substance called amyloid, an abnormal protein that is produced in your bone marrow and can be deposited in any tissue or organ. This caused Nancy to have kidney failure and required twice a day home dialysis. Nancy continued to travel some and when at home worked on handcrafts, sewing, plus keeping track of insurance hearings and follow-up with her disability. Nancy achieved many accomplishments, but her friends & family were most important. She was most thankful for the wonderful years with her daughters, Karla & Karin, granddaughter, Sarah, & son-in-laws, Ron Gaines & Larry Newman. At the time of her death Nancy was survived by her sister Wilma Corum Doyle (Raymond), Idaho Falls; daughters, Karla Gaines (Ron) and Karin Newman (Larry), Boise Idaho; granddaughter, Sarah Renae Newman, Boise Idaho. Preceding in death, her father, Earl Corum, mother, Rose Corum, Salmon Idaho, grandparents; Earl and Marjorie Pyeatt, Tendoy, Idaho.
