About | Roy Wilson Crain died suddenly March 14th 2005 in Anchorage Alaska. Roy was born February 20th, 1940. He was the youngest of 10 children born to Richard and Harriet (Ellis) Crain. He graduated from Salmon High School in 1959 and moved to Alaska in the early '70s. Roy spent the first part of his life living in Salmon working in the construction field. He was talented as an equipment operator and carpenter. Roy spent some of his favorite times with his brother-in-law mining in Boulder Creek near Salmon. He married Cheryl Easter in March of 1963 and had two children, Tammy LaRae and Troy Lucus Crain. Roy worked on the Alaska pipeline for many years building ice and haul roads. Later he was involved in environmental projects. He was proud of these accomplishments. The latter part of his life was spent living in Anchorage Alaska as much as Salmon. He was an avid outdoors man taking every opportunity to go boating, fishing and hunting. He loved to spend time on the Kasiloff River at the cabin he built in Alaska. Roy had many friends both at home and in Alaska. He love spending time socializing with them all. He was a member of the Eagles, Elks, Moose and the American Legion. He served in the National Guard. Roy had a great sense of humor and he loved to dance. His siblings taught him to dance at a young age and he was an excellent student. He will be greatly missed by his children. Roy is survived by his daughter, Tammy Dzwilewski (John). son Troy Lucus Crain. He has three grandchildren, Savanna Ellis Crain, Marc Lucus Dzwilewski, and Eric Ellis Dzwilewski. His brother Harold (Rusty) Crain from Butte, Montana and sister Lila Soliday from Renton, Washington. Many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers: Dickey, Rice, Wes, and four sisters: Hazel, Brooksie, Midge and Joy. Memorial and graveside services were March 25,2005 at the Eagles Lodge in Salmon, Idaho, and at the Salmon Cemetery. A celebration of life was March 26, 2005 at AmVets Post 49. A portion of his ashes will be spread on the Kasilof River at a later date. Walker Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements. Memorial services were held for Roy at the Eagles Lodge in Salmon, Friday, March 25th, 2005 at 1 p.m.. Grave side services followed at the Salmon Cemetery The Recorder Herald March 31, 2005 |
