Kathleen "Kitty" Marie Martin (Hogan), 53, a Sergeant with the Arizona Department of Corrections (DOC), was fatally shot by her husband, John Berry Martin, 62, with a .38 caliber revolver while in their home during a domestic dispute. The DOC lost one of the finest examples of true professionalism. She walked the beat behind razor wire topped fences protecting the public, staff and inmates alike, running toward danger. "Kitty" was raised with her siblings, four sisters and one brother by their Dad and Mom, John and Ruth Hogan, who gave them all a childhood experience filled with exotic travel, exploring numerous countries and cultures. Taught and blessed with knowing and practicing compassion for others and animals. Always seeing the absolute humor in life no matter what. . .remember Costa Rica! Kitty had one daughter and two son's. "Kitty" you now are in God's hands with Dad and Mom. No doubt you are making them laugh and giggle in that unique "Hogan" way. You are so dearly missed and will always be in our hearts. Your memory is our keepsake. Last call for Sergeant "Kitty" Martin (Hogan) was on 21 April 2009. Wayne Matthew Dillon, oldest son of "Kitty", stood up and faced the due process of law demanding that there be justice for his beloved mother. John Berry Martin was tried and subsequently convicted of Manslaughter on 11 March 2010 receiving a 14 1/2 year sentence. DOC Director Charles Ryan stated "Justice has been served by the imprisonment of her killer". ABUSE IN ANY FORM SHOULD NEVER BE CONDONED. PLEASE REPORT ABUSE. |
