About Arlie Wayne Holland, age 85, of Tamaroa, IL, passed away on Tuesday, August 25, 2020 at 11:16 a.m. in Good Samaritan Hospital, Mt. Vernon, IL.
Arlie was born on December 24, 1934 in St. Johns, IL, a son to George Robert and Ethel Jane (Coulter) Holland. He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy. In 1959, he married Odessa Jane Weaver in Tamaroa, IL and she preceded him in death in May 2003. On June 26, 2010, he married Phyllis Madge Keller at Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL and she survives.
Arlie had retired from Freeman Coal Company and was a member of Beaucoup Baptist Church, Pinckneyville, IL. He was an ordained deacon, enjoyed woodworking, metal recycling, gardening and trout fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Phyllis Holland of Tamaroa, IL; two sons, Arlie Wayne Holland of St. Louis, MO and Freddie Gene Holland of Ferguson, MO; a daughter, Kimberly Kay Holland of Mt. Vernon, IL; one stepdaughter, Sarah Louise (Jeffrey) Bronke of Naples, FL; three grandchildren, Damian J. Walls, Mary Katherine Holland and Micah Wayne Holland; six step-grandchildren, Nicolas Ryan Bronke, Nathan Michael Bronke, Brandon Tyler Bronke, Garrett Anthony Bronke, Shareigha Brienne Keller and Brayten James Webb; two great-grandchildren, Malakye and Zhion; seven step-great-grandchildren, Shanel Cook, Samarah Snowden, and Riley, Victoria, Richard, Alexander and Isabella Bronke; and a brother-in-law, Ted Beasley.
He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Odessa Jane Holland; a stepdaughter, Michelle Jennifer Webb; two brothers and their spouses, Gene and Cleo Hagston, and George Henry and Mary Holland; three sisters and their spouses, Wyvonna and Cecil Eugene Hagston, Joan Beasley, and Brenda Jane Holland.
Arlie’s wishes were to be cremated and inurnment was in Sunset Memorial Park, DuQuoin
