About Kenneth John Hartnagel, age 94, of Edwardsville, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at 8:41 p.m. He was born on July 1, 1916, in Belleville, the son of the late Albert Adolph and Margaret L. (Ruetterman) Hartnagel.

He proudly served his country in the United States Army in World War II. He worked as an auto painter for Hertz Pontiac in Edwardsville and State Street Auto Body in East St. Louis, and retired in 1979 after 32 years of dedicated serviceKenneth John Hartnagel, age 94, of Edwardsville, died on Monday, Dec. 27, 2010, at 8:41 p.m. He was born on July 1, 1916, in Belleville, the son of the late Albert Adolph and Margaret L. He was a member of the American Legion, Pin Oak Senior Citizens, IAM Local 313 and the Glen Carbon Kiwanis.

He is survived by daughters JoAnn (Robert) Ruhl of Edwardsville, Sandra (David) Lawson of Edwardsville and Kenna (Ronnie) Ellinger of Edwardsville; son Michael (Lisa) Hartnagel of Troy; brother Vincent Hartnagel of Glen Carbon; grandchildren Robin and Mike Desmond, Angie and Dave Newhouse, Patrick Lawson, R.J. Ellinger, Amy and Ryan Luckett, Derek Hartnagel and Kyle Hartnagel; and great-grandchildren Jeremy and Eric Newhouse.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his beloved wife Mary Maxine (Lucas) Hartnagel; son George Bradley; two brothers; two sisters and two granddaughters.

In celebration of his life, visitation will be on Friday, Dec. 31, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Irwin Chapel, 591 Glen Crossing Rd., Glen Carbon, with services at 1 p.m. The Reverend Clint Wisdom will officiate. Burial will be at Bartlett Cemetery in Edwardsville. Memorial can be made to TIP Hospice or Bartlett Cemetery.
