Douglas was a 1966 graduate of Geneva Community High School, where he served as Sophomore Class President, and was Co-Captain of the football team and President of the G Club during his Senior Year. He was also a phenomenal baseball catcher in high school and often played in intramural softball games held at the old Geneva McKinley Park during the summertime. Doug was active in his church's Youth Group at the Fox Valley Presbyterian Church in Geneva. After high school he attended Southern Illinois University. He is preceded in death by his father and mother, Leno and Mary Zeni. Doug was a kind and loving son, brother, and uncle, who was struck early in life by the disease known as schizophrenia, a devastating illness that caused him much suffering throughout his life. Still, he faced his difficulties as bravely as he could. He will always be remembered with much love and affection by those who knew him. |
