About | Ronald Stanley Szymonik, residing in Sandy Springs, GA, passed away peacefully on March 20, 2022. Ron was born in Chicago, IL on July 7, 1941, to first generation Polish-Americans. He attended Gordon Tech High School and remained in Chicago to begin his career at Chicago Title Insurance Company, where he worked for 30+ years before retiring in 1995. Ron was also a veteran of the Army Reserve and was deployed to Alaska to assist with the 1964 earthquake recovery. He married the love of his life, Patricia (Pat), in 1976 and the two were married until her passing in 2008. Upon retirement from Chicago Title, he retired to Effingham, IL where he enjoyed many hours fishing and boating with Pat on Lake Sara. Ron was also a lifelong fan of Chicago sports, a passion he imparted onto his children. Ron relocated to Sandy Springs in 2021 after the passing of his dear friend, Elizabeth Priest, and spent the last year of his life watching his grandsons playing baseball and challenging his granddaughter with intense games of connect four. Ron is survived by his sons, Jason (Abigail) Szymonik, of Chandler, AZ and Scott (Nikki) Szymonik of Dunwoody, GA; and five grandchildren: Amelia, Jeffrey, Cecilia, Luke, and Elliott. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stanley and Rose Szymonik, his wife, Patricia Szymonik, his sister, Dolores Kapustka, and his dear friend Elizabeth Priest. |
