About | I attended Kankakee Jr Hi for about 6 weeks waiting to join my Army father in Germany. Ginger befriended me and made me feel a part of life in Kankakee. Been searching for awhile and I'm sad to find out she has passed away. Birth: Oct. 1, 1945 Cook County Illinois Death: Nov. 27, 2005 Kankakee, Kankakee County, Illinois, USA Visitation for Ginger B. Shade, 60, of Kankakee, will be from 9 a.m. Friday until the 10 a.m. services at Asbury United Methodist Church, where she was a member. Rev. Steve Goodin will officiate. Burial will be in Mound Grove Gardens. Memorials may be made to the family wishes. She died Sunday (Nov. 27, 2005) at Riverside Medical Center. She had been a resident of Momence Meadows Nursing Center. Kankakee Chapel of the Schreffler Funeral Homes is in charge of arrangements. Ms. Shade had been a librarian for the West Point Military Academy in New York. She was a nighttime receptionist in the science department at Kankakee Community College and secretary at Asbury United Methodist Church. She was born Oct. 1, 1945, in Cook County, the daughter of Vernon and Mildred Schumaker Karsgaard. She sang with the Chancellors (Christian Ladies Quartet) and performed throughout the state of Illinois at many church and civic organizations. She sang for the late Mayor Richard Daley and sang for noonday concerts for the Chicago Tribune Towers and at Norman Vincent Peale Conventions. She enjoyed beading, crafts, reading and music.
