Stuart Dowlin Bryan, born April 26, 1955 in Topeka, KS, passed away on December 15, 2013 surrounded by family in Janesville, Wisconsin after a sudden diagnosis of Stage IV hepatic cancer. The son of longtime Lisle residents James and Margaret Bryan, he graduated from Lisle High School in 1973 - setting the Guinness World Record for longest distance covered by leapfrog in the process - and went on to earn bachelor's degrees in history at the University of Illinois and criminal justice at Franklin Pierce University, where he graduated magna cum laude. Following university, Stuart served an Americorps Vista volunteer. Since 2006, Stuart had lived in North Carolina, where he noted that even when it is humid, "you don't need to shovel the humidity off your driveway." A voracious reader, particularly in law and history, Stuart spent much of his free time visiting sites of historical interest across the United States. His positive attitude and gregarious personality will be missed. Stuart is survived by his children Alivia Bryan and Kevin Bryan, and his siblings Paul Bryan, Jean Tessier and Robert Bryan. |
