About | Oct. 19, 1963 - July 14, 2013 It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Keith Starner. Keith, who was 49 years old, died suddenly on July 14, 2013. A loving husband, son, brother, and friend, Keith was a 27 year resident of Vacaville who was born in Alton, Illinois, on Oct. 19, 1963. He graduated from Douglas McArthur High School in Decatur, Illinois in 1981 and later moved with his wife, Lynn, to California where in 1991 he earned a degree in Chemistry at the University of California, Davis, and in 1997 a Master of Science in Environmental Management at the University of San Francisco. Since 2000, Keith worked as an Environmental Scientist with the California Environmental Protection Agency's Department of Pesticide Regulation. An avid runner and rock-wall climber, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, reading, collecting maps, gardening, and playing with his cats. His natural curiosity and spirit of exploration led him on many journeys of discovery. In particular, he taught himself to play drums and enjoyed the challenges of the unexpected rhythms of jazz. Keith is survived by his wife of 27 years, Lynn, a resident of Vacaville; his parents, Marvin and Liz Starner of Effingham, Illinois; siblings, Daryll Starner of Decatur, Illinois, and Curt Starner (Cathy) of Blackstone, Illinois; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Collie and Dorothy Wallace and Everett and Mildred Starner. He will be missed for his infectious laugh, dry wit, dedication to environmental protection, love, and kindness. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Marine Mammal Center, the Audubon Society, or the charity of your choice . |
