About | David C. Yoder Chicago IL United States David C. Yoder, age 55, of Romeoville, formerly of Naperville, died Sunday, August 19, 2007 at his home as a consequence of Cardio-Vascular disease. He was born in Aurora, July 2, 1952; he was the beloved son of the late, Elwin C. and late Ferne E. (Heinhorst) Yoder of Naperville. David attended Naperville public schools, graduating with the class of 1971. At NCHS, he was active as a choral participant, and FFA and 4H member. David also was nurtured as a child and then a member of the United Methodist Church in Naperville. Summers were spent savoring time at his maternal family's farm near Mason City, IL and his paternal family's cottage on Lake Wawasee in Indiana. His delight in all aspects of farming and water skiing filled many wonderful days. Achieving a degree from Joliet Junior College, David later became a devoted employee of Cochrane Compressor Company of Melrose Park for 20 years. David's family called Naperville home from 1975 to 2005 when he moved to nearby Romeoville. For many years, he was a devoted volunteer at the annual Great American Yard Sale. In June 1975, David married Sherri Hapner of Syracuse, IN. From this union, two cherished children were born, Brandan (Becky) Yoder of Teague, TX and Shana Yoder of Austin, TX and Naperville. His children and grandchildren were the joy and great treasure of his life. In addition to his son and daughter, he is survived and deeply missed by his sister, Polly (Peter) Alfonso, of Jamestown, RI; a grandson, Ethan; and step-granddaughter, Sarah, of Teague, TX; two nephews, Clay (Cameron) Heinz of Jacksonville, FL and Jordan Heinz of Chicago. He will also be missed by his loving extended family and dear friends. His dog, Champ, and cat, Mookie, allowed many hours of play and laughter. David was known to all as a most gentle, kind man, so generous in all that he had to give. Funeral service will be held at the Community Methodist Church, 20 N. Center St., Naperville, at 6:30 P.M. on Friday, August 24, 2007 following visitation at the Beidelman-Kunsch Funeral Home, 516 S. Washington St., Naperville, IL from 2:00 to 5:30 P.M. Memorials may be made in David's honor to the American Heart Association or the American Cancer Society.
