About | John Keith Mitchell 05.21.2013 June 25, 1952 - May 20, 2013 John Keith Mitchell, 60, of Rochester, IL passed away on Monday, May 20, 2013 at St. John's Hospital. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at the Wilson Park Funeral Home in Rochester from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Reverend Kathy Sweet officiating. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 P.M. at the Westlawn Memorial Park at Newton with Reverend Tim Pearce officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the Animal Protective League. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 25th at 2:00 P.M. at the Buckhart Tavern. Launer on April 18, 2008. He worked for the State of Illinois, with Health Care and Family Services for over twenty years. John was a member of the Carlock Masonic Lodge #904 AF&AM, the Ansar Shrine, Ducks Unlimited, Fraternal Order of Eagles in Springfield, A.B.A.T.E. of Illinois (Lost Creek Chapter), N.R.A., National Corvette Association, Grace Methodist Church, Newton. He was a graduate of Newton Community High School in 1960, attended Eastern Illinois University, and later received his Electrical Engineer Degree. He was a judge at the Secretary of State car show and had sold over 700 corvettes during his life. He followed NASCAR and enjoyed riding his Harley. John knew no stranger, was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed.
