Debbie died on December 4. 2002 ,surrounded by her family. She had been ill for several months and had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma and a condition called amyloidoisis. She was recovering from a heart transplant in October and would have been facing a bone marrow transplant. I will share a little about her life after high school. She graduated from Oakland in 1973 and received an Associate Degree in Physical Therapy from SIU, Carbondale, IL in 1975. Debbie was married to Robert Rota on 8/1/81 in Hindsboro, IL and made Colorado Springs their home. She was employed with Memorial Hospital as a physical therapy assistant from 1980-1986. She spent several years as a mother teacher's helper with the Rockrimmon Elem. School. She was most recently employed as a teacher's assistant for special needs' children with the school district. Debbie also spent many hours as a volunteer with the Pike's Peak Hospice and was an active participant of the WoodmenValley Chruch in Colorado Springs where she enjoyed teaching Sunday school. She is survived by her three children - Angela, Rachel and Garrett. |
