About Curtis L. Hartmann, 74 years old of Red Bud, IL, passed away on Tuesday, October 6, 2020 at Garden Place in Red Bud, IL. He was born April 21, 1946, in St. Louis, MO. Mr. Hartmann was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL. He retired from Local 520 after 40 years of service with Illinois Excavators. He enjoyed spending time with his wife DJ of 53 years and his family and friends. In his spare time he enjoyed farming the family farm. He served 6 years in the United States Army Reserves. Surviving are his children, Brian (Sandra) Hartmann, Erin (Jim) Cox, and Shannon (Nick) Horrell, his grandchildren, Lucas, Brooke (Timothy) Hartmann, Erica (Christopher) Mehring, Andrea & Teri Hartmann, Tyler (Ashley) Cox, Jacob (Corrine) Cox, Levi Beare and Savannah Horrell, his great grandchildren, Peighton, Kendyll, Harper, Cason, Hudson, Waylon and Karsyn, his brother, Dale (Emily) Hartmann, his sister, Janel (Willie) Maes, numerous brothers and sisters-in-law, along with other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife of 53 years, Doris "DJ" Hartmann, his parents, Lester & Bernice, nee Goetting, Hartmann, his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Melvin E. and Gladys Valleroy, and his granddaughter, Jamie Cox. Visitation will be Friday, October 9, 2020 from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Leesman Funeral Home in Red Bud, IL. and Saturday, October 10, 2020 from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL. Services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church in Red Bud, IL., with Rev. Mark Nebel, officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Red Bud, IL. In lieu of customary remembrances, the family requests with gratitude that memorial contributions be directed to St. John's Lutheran Church or St. Jude's.
