About | Published in The Rochester Sentinel Wednesday, May 26, 1999 Macy Teenager Dies An off-road vehicle accident claimed the life of a Macy teenager Tuesday evening. Steven Bruce MATTICE, 14, died at 12:12 a.m. today of a fractured neck. Police say Mattice and a passenger, Jonathan SHOCK, 15, Macy, were traveling north on County Road 200 East south of County Road 600 South at about 6:35 p.m. when their four-wheeler left the east side of the road and hit a utility pole. The victim was air lifted to Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, where he later died. Shock received only minor injuries and was treated and released at Woodlawn Hospital. Steven B. Mattice June 21, 1984 - May 26, 1999 Steven Bruce MATTICE, 14, Macy, died 12:10 a.m. Wednesday at Parkview Hospital, Fort Wayne, as a result of an accident. Born to Bruce E. and Sara J. SHIREMAN MATTICE in South Bend, he came to Macy in Jan. 1999 from Muncie. An eighth grade student at Caston Jr/Sr High School, he was elected to be the freshman Student Council Representative for next year. He participated in baseball and basketball. While attending Muncie Northside Middle School he was involved in soccer, baseball, basketball and football. An avid golfer, he also enjoyed fishing, horseback riding and rollerblading and was a member of the Young Life organizastion in Muncie. Survivors include his parents, Macy; one sister, Marcy M. MATTICE, Indianapolis; maternal grandmother, Kathryn SHIREMAN, Rochester; several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents. Services are 1 p.m. Friday at Zimmerman Family Funeral Home, Rochester, with Rev. David DOUGLASS officiating. Burial will be in Rochester I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Friends may call 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Indiana Organ Procurement Organization or Caston Scholarship Memorial Fund.
