About | Miles Darius Firkins, Jr. 67, born June 15, 1953, was a loving husband, father, grandpa, son, brother & uncle. He passed peacefully in his home with his wife, mother, children & siblings by his bedside, ushering him into Heaven on 12/31/20. He was a '71 graduate of Decatur Central High School. As a master craftsman, avid golfer and snow skier, he was a natural talent in any sport or task he pursued. He maintained a lifetime career of being an innovative builder that started at the age of 14 that later developed into Firkins Construction. Jr will be remembered mostly by his kind and loving character, always displaying an elaborate sense of humor with a never ending smile on his face. He was compassionate and giving and a stranger to no one. He made friends wherever he went. He always put his generosity before his prosperity. He lived richly with an abundance of love and will be dearly missed. Miles is survived by his wife Karen, his children Jessica, Miles Levi and Lucas, his grandchildren- Maverick and Mila, his mother Dolores and siblings- Brother Terry, brother Nathan (Susan), sister Valerie Gordon (Scott), sister Kelly Lannan (John) and several nieces & nephews. We will be celebrating his home-going with immediate family, but are planning a celebration of life later next summer. |
