About | On Saturday April 28th.2007 Jake was working at Domino's pizza in Hammond. He was scheduled to work until 1am and then he was coming over to my house to stay with me while my mom was out of town because he didn't want me to be alone. So that night I made him dinner and laid down because i wasn't feeling well and i woke up at 3am without Jake, and without a missed call. I knew right away something was wrong, because it wasn't like jake not to call, or not to show up. so i called his cell phone and his mom answered and said, "Mandy i've been trying to get a hold of you all night long. But stay where you are because we are too far away" and i kept asking her what's going on and then she finally said the worst 3 words i had ever heard, "Jake got shot" i jumped out of bed and picked up his sister and drove out to the hospital in Oak Lawn. I didn't realize how serious it was, until i walked into the room and saw him lying there..... with a huge bandage over his right eye. He lived for 15 hours after he was shot, but he passed away at 1:55pm on Sunday April 29th,2007. His family and I stood by his side the whole day and when his sister told me he was gone, i lost it. Going in there for the last time was horrible. At this point we didn't know who did it, or what happened. we still don't know what really happened, and we probably never will. A 25 year old woman was arrest and is being charged with 3 different things, one of them being murder. She didn't rob him of money, credit cards, or his truck.... but of his life and the life of everyone who loved Jake. all of this for 3 pizzas and a box of hot wings..... what is this world coming to? So I made this group in honor of Jake..... My Tippy. He was a man who was loved by so many and he was a best friend to so many. Jake was a helping hand to anyone who passed his path, and he was still helping people even after he got his wings. Jake donated his organs and saved 7, possibly 8 people. So if you have any memories, or stories about Jake leave them on here. We all love you Jake and we can't wait to see you again in heaven. |
