About | Carolyn Adine Smiley, 82, loving wife, mother, sister & grandmother, finally won her battle with Alzheimer's Disease on Sunday morning, September 9, 2012 at her home with her loving family by her side. Carolyn was born on May 11, 1930 in Rush County to William & Naomi (Shaw) Sharpe, both deceased. She spent her entire life in Rush County. She married William "Bill" Smiley on July 12, 1947 and he survives. She was an active member of First Presbyterian Church in Rushville and served as den mother with the Cub Scouts when her boys were young. She worked in the Jr. & Sr. High School cafeterias and also worked in Rushville & Shelbyville at the Hallmark stores, managing the Shelbyville store for a while. In addition to her husband, Bill of Rushville, she is also survived by her sons, David & wife Cathy of Bloomington and Kevin & wife Jane Smiley of Rushville, a daughter, Jennifer & husband Tom Lott of Greenwood, a brother, Richard & wife Sue Sharpe of Rushville and a sister, Rebecca Sharpe of Rushville, 10 grandchildren and 3 great grandchilren. She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, JoAnne Glisson and brothers, Melvin, Billy Tom & Norman. Services will be held at 10 AM Wednesday, September 12 at Moster Mortuary in Rushville where friends are welcome to visit from 4 until 8 PM on Tuesday. Rev. Dena Vittorio will preside and burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. |
