About | Clifford Messer, 79, of Rushville, died Saturday, Sept. 8, 2007 at Miller’s Merry Manor in Rushville. Born July 31, 1928 in Cincinnati, Ohio, he was the son of Arthur and Lottie (Smith) Messer, both deceased. His mother died when he was very young and he was raised by Sue Messer. He married Helen Pence Aug. 18, 1950; she preceded him in death Aug. 3, 1982. Mr. Messer spent most of his life in Rushville and the Milroy area. He was a 1947 graduate of Rushville High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1951 to 1953. He was a farmer and retired after several years with D&M in Connersville. He is survived by five sons; Ronald (and wife Peggy) of Welaka, Fla., Donald of Arkansas, and Wayne (and wife Margaret), Tim and Billy, all of Rushville, three daughters, Beverly (Mrs. Johnny) Ellis of Bedford, Ky., Patricia Ray of Scipio and Brenda Messer of Rushville; two brothers, Randall (and wife Nancy) of Linville, Tenn. and Leroy (and wife Carolyn) of Rushville, two sisters, Norma Sparks of Cherry Valley, Calif. and Judy (Mrs. Mike) Ralston of Milroy; 17 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by one daughter, Debra Anderson. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with the Rev. Jeff Edwards officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the mortuary. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery and will include a graveside military service.
