About | Dalton Carroll Minneman, 75, of Rushville died on Thursday, December 17, 1998 at Community East Hospital in Indianapolis. Born on February 8, 1923 in Rush County he was the son of Herman H. and Ruby C. Powell Minneman (1881 - 1984). He lived most of his life in Rushville where he was a 1941 graduate of Rushville High School. He retired in 1974 after 23 years from Naval Avionics in Indianapoplis. He was past commander of the American Legion and the VFW in Rushvfille where he was a life member. He was also a member of the Eagles Lodge in Rushville and the D.A.V. where he was a life member. He was also a life member of the NRA. In 1991 he was awarded the Kentucky Colonel Award by the Governor of Kentucky. He was a US Army veteran having served in the Korean conflict. He married Dona L. Minneman in 1950, they later divorced and he married Audrey Jewell (McCane) Raike on December 27, 1967 and she survives. He was preceded in death by four brothers (William Lloyd, John Forrest, +2) and three sisters (Helen Ross, +2) and after his death by Dorothy M. Stohler. Survivors, besides his wife, include three sons: Dalton Russell Minneman of Waldron, Douglas Wayne Minneman of Rushville, and David Lavernne Minneman of Indianapolis and a daughter; Steven (Diana Lynn) Schnurpel of Knoxville, TN. Also three step-children: step-daughter Terry (Brenda) Hornaday of Rushville, Jerry Wayne Raike of Greenville, OH and Gregory Lynn Raike of Rushville; a sister: Dorothy M. Stohler of Anderson; 10 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Services will be held at 1 p.m. on Monday, December 21, 1997 at Moster & Cox Mortuary where friends may call from 4 until 8 p.m. on Sunday. Rev. Kenneth Bates will preside and burial will be in the Rushville East Hill Cemetery with military rites. Memorial contributions may be made to the Knightstown Soldiers and Sailors Home or the D.A.V. |
