About | Dorothy Joann (Brown) Dusing, beloved wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, aunt, cousin and friend passed away peacefully on January 8, 2014 at Hancock Regional Hospital. She was 80. She lived her life with honor, integrity, compassion and love. Throughout her long battle with health issues she reminded us all that while destiny may not be changed, it can certainly be challenged. Her strength, courage and faith will forever be a legacy to all who were a part of her life. Dorothy was born May 29, 1933 in Rush County, the daughter of the late Bob and Helen (Lushell) Brown. She married the late Arnold Dusing in July 1952. They have four children; Karen (Paul) Sutton of Rushville, Larry (Catherine) Dusing of Orlando, Florida, Tom (Kathleen) Dusing of Indianapolis, and Tim (Michele) Dusing of Indianapolis. She took great pride in her 9 grandchildren, Todd Sutton, Sherry (Joe) McGowan, Megan, Lauren, Michael, Katie, Mary Catherine, Sarah, and Lara Dusing. In addition to her immediate family, Dorothy remained close with many cousins, in-laws, nieces, nephews and lifelong friends. Dorothy worked at Rushville National Bank for over 25 years and later retired from Edward Jones as an assistant to Chris Seals. She was a graduate of Rushville High School class of 1951, and has been an active member of St. Mary Catholic Church. Dorothy loved traveling, reading, playing cards and spending time with family and friends. She was an avid IU basketball fan as well as Colts enthusiast. The family would like to thank the Hancock Regional Hospital Hospice Care and Staff along with Dr. Michael Lykens, Dr. Robert Nelson, Dr. Duncan Brindley and Dr. Joe Baele for their expertise, compassionate care and the many additional years they provided for family and friends to share in Dorothy's life. Friends are invited to the Rosary prayer service at 3:45 PM Thursday, January 16th at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory, 1600 South SR3, Rushville, IN 46173. Calling will follow immediately from 4:00 to 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday morning January 17th, at 10:30 AM, also at Todd Funeral Centre & Crematory in Rushville. Friends are welcome to visit and celebrate Dorothy's life. She will be laid to rest in Calvary Cemetery. Donations can be made to St. Mary Church, St. Mary School, or the Rushville Boys and Girls Club. |
