About | Dr. George E. King, DVM, 83, of Rushville, died Feb. 24, 2010. Born July 27, 1926 in Rush County, he was the son of Perry and Margret J. (Glendenning) King, both deceased. He married Evelyn Curts in August 1952; she passed away April 8, 1986. Dr. King had operated King Veterinary Clinic in Rushville since 1955. He was a World War II US Army Medical Corps veteran, serving in the Philippines. He was a life member of both the Indiana and American Veterinary Medical Association, life member of the NRA, member of American Legion Post #150 in Rushville and Rushville Elks Lodge #1307. He was an accomplished trap and skeet shooter. He shot trap on Tuesday night in Rushville and spent a lot of Saturday's shooting at Coffee Creek around Mt. Vernon. "Doc" was a 1944 graduate of Rushville High School. He attained his pre-vet schooling from Purdue University and was a 1955 graduate of Kansas State University where he received his Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine. Survivors include daughter, Paula of Rushville; sister, Mary Lou King Shields of Cincinnati, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a brother, William Robert King. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Moster Mortuary in Rushville with Pastor Mick Saunders officiating. Burial will be in Arlington East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to the Dr. George E. King, DVM Scholarship fund at the Rush County Community Foundation or the Rushville Public Library.
