| About | E. Duane Newhouse, 72, of Rushville, died Jan. 2, 2009. Born May 10, 1936 in Rush County, he was the son of Herschel M. and Esther M. (Waggoner) Newhouse Beckner. He married Roberta Carol Gordon in 1961; she preceded him in death in 1997. Mr. Newhouse was a 1954 graduate of Rushville High and very active in the Alumni Association. He owned and operated his own auction and appraisal business throughout his life. He had been active in the local state and national real estate boards. He was a longtime member of the Rush County Republican Party and was a former Rush County Councilman for 16 years. He was an active member of the Family Worship Center in Rushville. Survivors include sons, Tom (Reba) Newhouse of Rushville and Rob Newhouse of Raleigh; sister, June Crews of Bloomington; six grandchildren, Craig, Hali, Seth, Brittany, Ian and Jeremiah Newhouse; and companion, Carolyn Leising of Connersville. Besides his parents and wife he was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Davis Darling. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Family Worship Center, 1002 W. First Street, Rushville with Pastor Dennis Bowman and Associate Pastor Darryl Cooper officiating. Burial will follow in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville. |
