About | The Rushville Republican Fri May 02, 2014 Ellen L. Ritter, 96, of Indianapolis, formerly of Rushville, passed away May 1, 2014 in Indianapolis. She was born June 1, 1917 in Rushville to William E. and Elizabeth (Evans) Jones. Ellen was a 1936 graduate of Rushville High School. She married Ralph A. Ritter on Oct. 21, 1937 and he preceded her in death on June 29, 1994. Ellen was a longtime, very active member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church and the Amicitia Club of Rush County, 4H Leaders, Webb School Mother's Circle and the Euchre Club. Ellen loved life as a farm wife. She loved the land itself, loved her neighbors and relatives. She was the essence of Rush County and was the best of the Midwest. She was the mother of Chris and husband Mike Graninger of Zionsville and Beth and husband Dan Schermer of Brownsburg; and grandmother to Todd Schermer and wife Mary Jane, Emily Demos and husband Tim, Kara Clayton and husband Jeff and Kent Graninger and wife Lucie. She was great grandmother to Ella, Jacob, Will, Kinsey, Alexa, Kate, Mikey, Carter and Colin. Services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, May 3 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Rev. Dena Vittorio presiding. Visitation is at the mortuary from 11 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. There will be a time of sharing at the Hoosier Village activity center (5300 W. 96th St. Indianapolis) at 2 p.m. on Sunday, May 4. |
