About | Jackie Allen "Jack" Coop, 62, of Defiance, Ohio, died recently. Born Feb. 12, 1946 in Indianapolis, he was the son of Jay W. and Belle Groce Coop; both survive and reside in Rushville. Mr. Coop attended Raleigh Elementary School and graduated from Rushville High School with the class of 1964. He had lived in the New Lisbon community where he owned and operated Coop Machine Shop for several years. He had worked for ALCOA in Richmond as a tool and die maker. He was awarded 17 U.S. Patents for some of his ideas. He had lived in Defiance for the past 25 years. Survivors in addition to his parents include children, Mark (Sara) Coop of Northwood, N.H., and Cheryl Goodall of Cincinnati, Ohio; two grandchildren, Ava and Brody Coop; seven siblings, Bonnie (Ted) Meier of Bradenton, Fla., Madonna (Yuland) Baker of Indianapolis, Karen (Paul) Rose of Richmond, Julia (Max) Wilson of New Castle, Cathy Lynn Smith of Longwood, Fla., Timothy (Deann) Coop of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Teresa Coop of Rushville. He was preceded in death by a son, Matthew Coop. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Marshall & Erlewein Funeral Home in Lewisville with the Revs. Paul Rose and Yuland Baker officiating. Burial will follow in Raleigh's Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. He graduated from Rushville High School in 1964, and, for several years, owned and operated Coop Machine Shop, New Lisbon, Ind., where he had also lived. He had worked for ALCOA in Richmond as a tool and die maker, and was awarded 17 U.S. patents. He was a race car driver and participated in drag racing. Surviving are his parents, Rushville, Ind.; a son, Mark (Sara), Northwood, N.H.; a daughter, Cheryl Goodall, Cincinnati; six sisters, Bonnie (Ted) Meier of Bradenton, Fla., Madonna (Yuland) Baker of Indianapolis, Karen (Paul) Rose of Richmond, Julia (Max) Wilson of New Castle, Ind., Cathy Smith of Longwood, Fla., and Teresa Coop, Rushville, Ind.; a brother, Timothy (Deann), St. Petersburg, Fla.; and two grandchildren.
