About | Janet Maxine Wylie Land, 90, a life long Rushville resident, passed away peacefully with her family around her on September 29, 2015 in Rushville. She was born August 2, 1925 in Rushville to Faye & Kate (Jenkins) Wylie. Janet was a 1943 graduate of Rushville High School. She married Delmer H. Land on October 26, 1946 and he preceded her in death on September 7, 1982. Janet worked many years in accounting and bookkeeping. She spent time doing so with Lester Witte & Co, CPA from 1967-1975, WRCR radio station from 1975-1988, Fujitsu Ten from 1988-2002 and was Peer Counselor for older adults with Dunn Mental Health Center from 2003-2007. Janet had served as tax consultant for friends & family into her 89th years! Janet was a member and elder of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, a 40+ year member of the Rushville VFW Women's Auxilary where she served as Treasurer, active in Rush County Players where she acted, produced and directed many plays and had won multiple Hammys and trouper of the year, Salvation Army Board Moderator, member of the Rush County Republican Women's Club, BPW, DAR, Rush County Historical Society and the RHS/RCHS Alumni Association. Janet had received many accolades over the years, some of them included; Rush County Senior Citizens Services certificate of appreciation 2003, Dunn Center employee appreciation award 2003, Key to the city for United Fund volunteer 1992, Rush County United Fund volunteer of the year 1998, Rush County Republican Woman of the year, RHS/RCHS Alumni Association service award 2003 and Rush County Player Trooper of the year. She is survived by a daughter, Lori S. Land, sons, Steven M. & wife Sande Land, Jeffrey R. Land, Christopher S. Land, sisters, Dorothy Bess and Betty Ashby all of Rushville, grandchildren, Mike Land & Karena, Patrick Land & Grady Land, great grandchildren, Zach Binder & Audrey Land and great-great grandson, Brayden Binder. Janet was also survived by a beloved dog, Milli. In addition to her parents & husband, Janet was also preceded in death by a sister, Mary Davey. Services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with John Wall presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4-8 PM Friday evening, October 2. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Veteran's Memorial Foundation. |
