About | Joseph M. Sheehan, 57, of Rushville died April 3, 2002 at his residence. Born November 29, 1944 in Indianapolis, IN he was the son of Frances L. (McAtee) Sheehan and the late Paul E. Sheehan. He married Linda K. Lemen on December 23, 1967 in Rushville; she survives. Mr. Sheehan is a 1962 graduate of Rushville High School. After graduation he served in the U.S. Navy for four years. Upon his return from the service, he managed the Rush County Beverage for nearly twenty years. He thin became Director of Housekeeping at Rush Memorial Hospital, a position he held up until his retirement. Mr. Sheehan became a County Councilman in 1982 and served this position until his death. While on the County Council, Mr. Sheehan served as the Council chairman and was appointed to the Rush Memorial Hospital Board for six years and served as both Chairman and Vice Chairman. He recently received the State of Indiana's highest honor for citizenship, the Sagamore of the Wabash. Mr. Sheehan was a member of the St. Mary Catholic Church and the Rushville Republican party. Survivors include: Mother - Frances Sheehan of Rushville; Wife - Linda Sheehan of Rushville, Son - Brian (Wife-Heather) Sheehan of Rushville; Daughter-Tracy (Mrs. Trey) Taufmann of Huntington; three Brothers- Paul Sheehan, Jr. of Warrenton, VA, Daniel Sheehan of Rushville, and Tim Sheehan of Rushville; five Sisters- Maureen Leisure of Rushville, Kathleen Sheehan of Greenwood, Patricia (Mrs. Tom) Stamm of Rushville, Theresa (Mrs. Mike) Shadley of Flat Rock, and Michelle (Mrs. Jerry) Bornhorst of Troy, OH; and two grandchildren (Riley Sheehan and Madison Taufmann).
