About | Mrs. Juanita Land, 26; her five-month-old son, Jason Michael Land; and her mother Evelyn Jackson, 49; were killed on Wednesday, June 27, 1973 in an automobile accident while traveling west on State Road 44 east of Shelbyville. The accident was due to another driver loosing control of the truck he was driving on the rain slicked road causing him to loose control and spin completely around in the highway into the west bound lane into the path of the Land car. Mrs. Land resided in the Big Flatrock community and lived in the local area for several years. She was a 1965 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School. She was born January 2, 1947, in Pine Knot, KY the daughter of Lester and Evelyn (Shouse) Cordell and was married September 25, 1965 to William Jack Land, who survives. Surviving with the husband are her stepfather, Carl Jackson; a daughter, Lisa Michelle Land at home, who was treated and released at Major Hospital after the crash; a sister, Mrs. Richard (Wanda) Kast of Rushville, and two grandparents, William Shouse and Mrs. Edith Jackson, both of Rushville. Triple services for the three accident victims will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Moster and Sons Mortuary, with the Rev. James Farnsley officiating and burial will fowllow in East Hill Cemetery. Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m. Friday. |
