| About | RUSHVILLE — Laura Jean Vandeventer, 63, a lifelong resident of Rushville, passed away Dec. 16, 2011 in Rushville after a 2 year battle with Leukemia. Laura Jean Jones was born on April 11, 1948 in Rushville to the late Virgil E. and Aileen (Johnting) Jones. She was a 1969 graduate of Rushville High School. Laura married Edward Vandeventer, Jr. on Dec. 29, 1978 and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2001. She worked for many years at Millers Drive In and later worked at the Country Cooker in Rushville. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Rushville. Survivors include her sisters, Pat and husband, Barry, McNeeley of Connersville, Linda and husband, Robert, Virden of Arkansas, Ina Jacobs and Anita Carver, both of Indianapolis, and Rita Collins of Noblesville. Several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews survive. In addition to her parents and husband, Laura was preceded in death by her brothers, Dale, David, Morris and James. Services for Laura will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Rev. Jay Noll will preside and burial will be in the Orange North Cemetery in Fayette County.
