About | Leona Bowles, 67, of Rushville, died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2006 at Flatrock River Lodge. Born Feb. 13, 1939 in Rush County, she was the daughter of Fred T. and Bernice (Corn) Richardson; her mother, a Rushville resident, survives. She married Allan Bowles Oct. 6, 1958; he survives. Mrs. Bowles was a 1956 graduate of Rushville High School. She worked for Rush County Schools as a secretary for 31 years, retiring in 2003. She helped start the Rushville Girls' Softball League and was very active in the Rushville Brownies and Girl Scouts. Survivors in addition to her mother and husband include one son, Mike Bowles (and wife Sheila) of Rushville; two daughters, Julie Bowles (and family friend) Liz Rogers of Beech Grove and Jennifer Bowling of Clinton; two brothers, David Richardson (and wife Donna) of Hope and Stephen Richardson (and wife Carol) of Columbus; one sister, Patricia (Mrs. Phil) Simmerman of Rushville; and five grandsons. Besides her father she was preceded in death by one brother, Richard Richardson, and one sister, Frances Ward. Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Todd Funeral Home in Rushville with the Rev. Dena Vittorio officiating. Burial will follow in Raleigh's Zion Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
