About | Lois C. (Sterrett) Fishell, 84, formerly of Rushville, died peacefully in California on Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011 surrounded by her family. She was born in Rushville on April 6, 1927 to Harry and Letha A. (Foster) Sterrett. She graduated from RCHS in 1945, and was married to Loren G. Fishell of New Salem, Ind. on April 1, 1946 at "The Little Church Around the Corner" from the Empire State Building in New York City. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was blessed with many creative talents and left a legacy of beautiful quilts, paintings and other arts and crafts to grateful friends and family. She also had a love for and grew magnificent roses at her home in Southern California which won admiration from her neighbors and were featured in a television commercial seen there. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Janet J. Sterrett and Norma J. Ellison; and the love of her life, husband and soul-mate, Loren Gilbert Fishell. She is survived by her children, Gayle (John) Timcak of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., and Gary (Rene) Fishell of Diamond Bar, Calif.; two grandsons, Dagan A.F. (Katelyn) Smith of Naperville, Ill., and Darren J. Fishell, of Portland, Maine; one great-granddaughter, Kylie M. Smith; and one brother, James (Katy) Sterrett of Rushville. Services will be private. Memorial donations may be sent to the La Mirada Theater for the Performing Arts in La Mirada, Calif., or the Citrus Valley Hospice in West Covina, Calif. |
