| About | Louis C. Owens 79, of Columbus, IN, formally of Rushville, passed away December 18, 2004 at Columbus Regional Hospital. Born October 16, 1925 in Rushville he was the son of the late Anthony & Henrietta Sharpe Owens. He married Frances Stirn November 25, 1948 and she survives. He graduated from Rushville High in 1943 and entered the US Army Air Corps during WWII. He was a barber over 30 years and also was the Rushville sales representative for Wearly Monuments Inc. of Muncie, IN from 1968 until his retirement in 1998. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville; VFW; American Legion. He was an activist in the early development of Rush County Little League and Babe Ruth. Survivors include his wife Frances; two sons Tony Owens & Steve Owens; two daughters Mindy Houchins and Lisa Barnes; brother Joe Owens; sister Jane (Mrs. Bill) Means; eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren also survive. He was preceded in death by one son Terry and one daughter Cathy. A Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM Tuesday December 28th at St. Mary Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. William Turner officiating. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Rushville. |
