| About | Melvin R. "Mel" Barton, 53, a lifelong Rushville resident passed away April 30, 2013 at Jewish Hospital in Louisville, KY. Mel was born in Rushville on November 3, 1959 to the late F. Randall and Martha Bell (Porter) Barton. He was a 1978 graduate of Rushville High School and later received a Bachelors Degree and later an MBA in business from Indiana Wesleyan University. Mel married Angie Torline Neeb on November 11, 2011 and she survives. Mel retired after 30 years as a supervisor for Copeland Corp. Mel enjoyed firearm and auto restoration, fishing, antiquing and had interests in history and genealogy. In addition to his wife Angie of Rushville, Mel leaves behind 4 sons, Ryan Barton of Alexandria, VA, Alex Barton, Eric Barton and Ryan Neeb all of Rushville, daughter Emily Neeb of Rushville, brother Donald Porter of Rushville, 3 sisters, Rebecca Kay McCormick of Summerville SC, Regina M. and husband Carl Cummings of Columbus, IN, Susan and husband Elton Halcomb of Rushville and several nieces and nephews. Mel was preceded in death by his parents F. Randall Barton and Martha Bell (Porter) Barton, niece Amy McWhorter and nephew Chris McWhorter. A memorial service will be held at 4 PM Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Moster Mortuary Rushville with Rev Jan Dimick presiding. Friends are welcome to share memories from 1-4 PM that same day at the mortuary. Memorial contributions may be made to Donate Life Indiana or the Rushville Animal Shelter. |
