About | Michael Alan Woods, 68, a long time Rushville resident, passed away April 11, 2016 at St. Vincent's Hospital in Indianapolis. He was born Jan. 27, 1948 in Rushville to Loren E. Woods & Norma Faye (Stamm) Cherry. Mike was a 1966 graduate of Rushville Consolidated High School & graduated with a BA of Music in 1970 from Milligan College in Johnson City, Tennessee. Mike had given private piano lessons since 1968 and was most recently accompanist to the Benjamin Rush Middle School Choirs. His music ministry had touched so many lives through his involvement in many school systems, churches and theatrical groups. He was the oldest member of Slabtown/Briar Patch Players. Mike was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church & former member of Main Street Christian Church. His passion of music was evident in his life. Mike is survived by his sisters, Sue (Dick) Sharpe of Rushville & Jenny (Warren) Engel of Rush County, a brother, Rob (Shelley) Hendrix of Indianapolis, half sisters, Mary Beth Woods of Greensburg and Amy (Joe) Goff of new Braunfels, Texas, half brother, David (Penny) Woods of Greensburg, nieces, Robin Phelps, Katie Metz, Jessica Mattex and Cassie Green, Lauren Beckett & Brittany Coy, 1 great niece and 3 great nephews. Mike was preceded in death by his parents. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 14, 2016 at St Paul's United Methodist Church, 426 N. Morgan, Rushville, IN. 46173. Pastor Jan Dimick will preside. Friends are welcome to visit at the church from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 13 at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation c/o Music for Rush County or St. Paul's United Methodist Church. Moster Mortuary, Rushville, entrusted with arrangements. |
