About | Paul David Smith, 66, of Rushville, passed away May 30, 2010. Born July 19, 1943 in Rushville, he was the son of Jess and Mary Ellen (Clevenger) Smith. He married Elizabeth "Libby" Oster Jan. 29, 1965; she survives. He was a longtime member of Main Street Christian Church in Rushville where he served as Elder, Chairman of the Board, Sunday school teacher as well as other positions. He had been very active in the Rush County Veterans Honor Guard, VFW, the American Legion and was an Air Force veteran. He was a 1961 graduate of Rushville High School, and received his Master's degree at Ball State University. He was an elementary teacher during the 1970s at the Cowan Elementary School and later was the principal at the Arlington Elementary School from 1975 to 1983. He then went to the Trane Company where he was in management for over 20 years, retiring in 2004. Survivors in addition to his wife include sons, Christopher (Suzanne) Smith of Caro, Mich. and Benjamin David (Susan) Smith of Winnebago, Ill.; brother, Tim (Mary Lynn) Smith of Glenwood; sister, Christine (Bill) Edrington of Rushville; and grandchildren, Kayla Sue, Jess Paul II, and Isabella Grace Smith. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Main Street Christian Church with Pastor Sam Davenport officiating. Burial will follow in East Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Main Street Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be made to Main Street Christian Church (Reach For Tomorrow), the Rush County Veterans Honor Guard, or the giver's choice. Arrangements by Moster Mortuary. |
