About | Paul D. Higgins, 51, of West Chester, PA., and formerly of Rushville, died Tuesday, August 2, 2005, at Riddle Memorial Hospital in Lima, PA. Born in Rushville, he was the son of Mary Ann (Kennedy) Higgins and the late Lowell Higgins. Mr. Higgins had lived in Pennsylvania since 1995. He was a self-employed engineer at his own firm, Wings Engineering. Previous to that he worked at Vibro-Meter Corp. in Manchester, N.H., and as director of engineering for Tedeco Corp. of Glenolden. Prior to 1995 he was employed as an engineer for the General Motors Aerospace Division in Indiana. He was an avid pilot and had been part of the pit crew at several Indianapolis 500 races, working both the Rick Mear and Paul Newman racing teams. In addition, he raced sprint cars in the 1970's. Survivors in addition to his mother include his wife, Sherrie Lynn (Wolfe) Higgins; two sons, Patrick and Ben Higgins, both of Glen Mills; and two brothers, David Higgins of Fort Worth, TX., and Steve Higgins of Houston, TX. Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Founds Funeral Home in West Chester, PA. Burial will follow in Longwood Cemetery in Longwood.
