About | Phyllis White VanHuss, 81, of Tulsa, Okla. and formerly of Rushville, died Jan. 9, 2010. Born Aug. 20, 1928 in Hillsboro, she was the daughter of Roscoe and Olive Largent White, both deceased. She married Robert E. VanHuss March 23, 1950; he survives. Mrs. VanHuss attended Greene Township schools in Parke County. A graduate of Indiana State University, she coached basketball and taught physical education at Rockville schools and was a guidance counselor at Crawfordsville and Rushville schools, where she retired after 37 years. She was a member of DAR, OES, ISU Alumni and was named to the Women's All Century Basketball Team at Indiana State. Survivors include sons, Joe (Barbara) VanHuss of Greenwood and Jon (Deb) VanHuss of Collinsville, Okla.; grandson, Jay VanHuss of Greenwood; and granddaughter, Cassie (Shawn) Lowman of Collinsville. There will be no public service. Burial at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Hollandsburg. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
