About | Raymond N. Hay, 84, a long time Rushville resident, passed away January 15, 2016 in Rushville. He was born January 12, 1932 in Hanover to Ed & Bessie (Reed) Hay. Ray was a 1950 graduate of Saluda High School. He entered the US Air Force after graduation and then went on to obtain his BA in Education from Eastern KY University and later his MA from Ball State University where he also received qualifications in Guidance Counseling and his Principal's certificate. Ray married Geraldine "Jerri" Poor on December 17, 1967 and she survives. Ray was Principal at Mays School for 5 years and was then the Guidance counselor with Rushville Consolidated High School for 26 years. After he retired with the school systems he began Ray Hay Real Estate & sold real estate for 15 years. He was a member of Center Christian Church where he had been Treasurer for 30 years. Ray was also active in FCA, Mays Lions Club and the IN State & Rush County Retired Teacher's Association. He is survived by his wife, Jerri, of Rushville, a son, David Hay & wife Jenny and children Jayden, Blake & Breanah of Land-O-Lakes, FL, a daughter, Carol Hoppes & husband Eric of Mesa, AZ, grandsons, Christofer May & wife Shayla and children Aralynn & Silas and Dustin & Tristin May. Several nieces & nephews also survive. Ray was preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers & 5 sisters. Services will be at 1 PM Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at the Center Christian Church, 9112 N. 50W., Knightstown, IN. Friends are welcome to visit at the church on Wednesday from 10 AM until time of service. Rev. Bill Worrell will preside and burial will be in the Center Cemetery.
