RUSHVILLE — Richard E. "Jarhead" Hampton, 58, a lifelong Rushville resident, passed away April 6, 2013, in Greenfield.

Richard was born April 28, 1954, in Rushville to the late John Carr and Elsie (Smith) Hampton.

Richard served in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was an independent owner/operator truck driver for over 40 years and was last driving for Jacobs Trucking. He was a member of American Legion Post #150, Rushville Eagles Lodge and the VFW.

He leaves behind companion, Debbie Wethington; two sons, Richard and wife Melissa Hampton II and Jeremy and wife Tonya Hampton, both of Rushville; two brothers, James and wife Shirley Hampton of Rushville and Charles Hampton of Tacoma Wash.; three sisters, Betty Hampton, Phyllis Nienstedt and Peggy and husband Roger Hood, all of Rushville; six grandchildren, Erika and husband Cody Boyer, Christian, Madison Emily, McKaylee and Jacob Hampton; and two great-grandchildren, Brent and Gabriel.

In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville with Roger Hood presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Rushville East Hill Cemetery. Rush County Honor Guard will perform military rites.
