About | Robert E. Orme, 82, a life long Rush County resident, passed away Jan. 7, 2014 at his home in Rushville. He was born Aug. 31, 1931 in Rush County to Olen and Beatrice (Wilson) Orme. Bob was a 1949 graduate of Rushville High School and attended Butler University for a year before receiving his B.S. from Ball State University in 1954. He married Nancy Howell on Dec. 30, 1960, she survives. Bob was a 1st Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force and had served overseas in Wales during the Korean War. He worked several years in accounting for Chrysler Corporation in New Castle. Bob also owned Orme Shoes in Rushville and later served as an auditor for the State of Indiana until his retirement. The family farm was always a part of Bob's life as well. He was a 70+ year member of the Main Street Christian Church where he had served as deacon and board member. He was also a long time member of the American Legion Post #150 of Rushville. In addition to his wife Nancy of Rushville, Bob is survived by his sons, Gregory Shawn and wife Michelle Gotwals Orme of Arlington, Robert Brett and wife Michele Biddle Orme of Rushville and Stephen Blair and wife Natasha Orme of Rushville; his grandchildren, Justin and wife Samantha Orme, Hillary, Hannah, Callista, Hunter, Michaela, Alexander and Macey Orme. Bob was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Myron; and a sister, Jeanette Imel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 11, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville, with Rev. Sam Davenport and Chip West presiding. Friends are welcome to visit at the mortuary from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 10. Burial will be in Rushville's East Hill Cemetery. Military rites will be provided by the Rush County Veteran's Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Animal Shelter or the Main Street Christian Church. |
