About | Robert E. "Bob" Schroeder, 65, of the Orange community, died Monday morning, November 3, 2014, at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati, Ohio, after becoming ill while working in the area. Bob was born in Shelbyville, December 31, 1948, to Joseph G. and Mary Jane Hammerle Schroeder. He was a member of St Mary's Catholic Church in Rushville and was a 1967 graduate of Rushville High School. Bob had also studied electronics at Ivy Tech. For over 30 years, he was employed as an electrician at Printpack in Greensburg. For the past fourteen years, he and his wife, Donna have owned and operated Wallflowers in downtown Connersville. Bob enjoyed woodworking, restoring antiques and had worked privately as a carpenter. Bob was an accomplished musician and played bass for the past 35 years with the Monarch band consisting of Frank Schreiner of Greensburg, Barry Blackburn of Batesville and Rick Blackburn of Indianapolis. Bob was a member of Historic Connersville, Inc. and enjoyed solving crossword puzzles in his leisure time. Bob is survived by his wife, the former Donna Cullins whom he married July 20, 1968 at St. Mary's Church, Rushville; his children and their spouses: Robert M. "Bobby" Schroeder and Jennifer of Centerville, Jessica Anne Briscoe and Tim of Greenwood, Rachel Jane Schroeder of Connersville; his Mother: Mary Jane Lawhead of Bloomington; five grandchildren: Emily and Philip Schroeder, Corey and Ashley Briscoe, Ashton Cornett; his siblings and their spouses: Mary Therese Kozak and William of Minneapolis, MN; Rich Schroeder and Cindy of the Orange community, Don Schroeder and Dee of Noblesville, Rosalie Porter of Temecula, CA; Annette Schroeder of Bloomington, Christopher Schroeder of Hyattsville, MD; Michael Schroeder of San Francisco, CA; his uncle: Jack Hammerle of Manila; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law: D.D. and Barb Cullins of Connersville; several nieces and nephews. Bob was preceded in death by his Father, an infant brother: Dennis Michael Schroeder and his nephew: Matthew Wade Schroeder. A Celebration of Bob's Life will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday at Showalter Blackwell Long Funeral Home, Myers Chapel, Connersville. Cremation will follow. Friends may visit at the funeral home from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday where memorial contributions may be made to Historic Connersville, Inc. |
