About | Ruth E. Dusing Coon, 92, of Rush County, passed away April 14, 2015 in Indianapolis. She was born to Joseph & Josephine (Schulte) Dusing on May 17, 1922 in Kenton County, KY. She was a 1940 graduate of Rushville High School. Ruth married Russell L. Coon, Jr. on October 20, 1949 and he preceded her in death on May 27, 1991. Ruth was a life long member of St. Mary's Catholic Church where she was active in the St. Mary's Sodality and the "Belles" of St. Mary's. She was the administrator many years for R.L. Coon Excavating, Inc. Ruth enjoyed working crossword, jigsaw & word search puzzles. She especially enjoyed family time, watching sporting events on TV, homemaking, bowling, playing cards & tripoley. She was active in the Friendly Homemakers Club, Rush County Senior Center, Red Hat Society and past member of Kappa Delta Phi sorority. Ruth was a life time member of the Pioneer Engineer's Club and looked forward to their annual show each year. She is survived by her 6 children, Beth A. Walsh of Rushville, Frances "Francie" & husband Bob Kieffer of North Vernon, David & wife Kathy Coon of Rushville, Donald Coon & companion Pam Kinder of Rushville, Denise Vivian & companion Frank Murphy of Mooresville and Mindy & husband David Lower of Rushville, grandchildren, Tyler & Kimberly Walsh, Heather A. Clark, Joshua C. Nickel, Bobby & Brian Kieffer, Jonna Lynn McIntire, Aaron Coon, Jennifer Castle, Amy Hamilton, Olivia, Genna & Clayton Lower, 12 great grandchildren also survive along with several nieces & nephews. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brothers, Arnold, Herman & Joe Dusing, 2 infant brothers, sisters, Clementine Archibald, Mary Martin & Dorothy "Pat" Kitchen and great granddaughter, Tobi Lynn Coon. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 AM Saturday, April 18, 2015 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rushville with Rev. Jeremy Gries presiding. Friends are welcome to visit from 4-8 PM Friday evening, April 17, at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 PM Friday at the mortuary. Burial will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Rushville. Memorial contributions may be made to the St. Mary's Catholic Church or the Donor's Favorite Charity. |
