About | Sandra L. Palmer, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away at her home early Thursday morning, November 17, 2011. Sandra was born on September 11, 1942 in Rushville to Harold R. & Bessie I. (Bell) Palmer. She spent her early life in Rushville, graduating from Rushville High School with the class of 1961. She obtained her OR Tech certification from Ivy Tech after high school. She worked at both Methodist & Community East Hospitals as an OR & dialysis technician. Sandra had lived in Indianapolis for nearly 40 years. She attended the Bethany Christian Church and was a former member of the Plum Creek Christian Church. Sandra was an avid IU and Colts fan, a member of Jobes Daughters and had held offices nationally & on the state level with AORT. While at Methodist, she was on the surgical team that performed the first heart transplant in Indiana. Survivors include her sisters, Sheryl Palmer of Indianapolis and Holly & husband Ronald Reitz of St. Peters, MO, an aunt, Mable Berkemeier of Rushville, a niece, Dr. Megan Carter & her husband, the Honorable Craig Carter of Ava, MO, a nephew, Nick Leapley & wife Kirsten of St. Peters, MO, a great niece, Snow Noel Leapley, a step-niece, 2 step-nephews and several step-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents. David Berkemeier will preside. Memorial contributions may be made to the Donor's Favorite Charity, the RCCF or the Rush County Humane Society. |
