| About | Stella R. Parmley, 100, of Rushville, IN passed away Tuesday, December 2, 2014. She was born Aug. 13, 1914 in Wayne County, KY, to Dexter and Celia (Slagle) Parmley. Stella graduated from Somerset High School and Western Kentucky University with a teaching degree. She first began her teaching career in Wayne County Kentucky in a one room schoolhouse. In 1942 she also worked at Wright airplane factory in Ohio. She then moved Indiana and taught school at Milroy and Connersville. Upon her retirement from teaching she moved back to Kentucky, and in recent years to Rushville. She was an avid gardener. She was maker of quilts. She loved birds and flowers. Stella is survived by one sister, Maysie Weaver and one brother Charles Parmley. Several nieces, nephews, great and great great nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Ella Mae Risner and Marjorie Gahimer and brother Hershel. Private family graveside services will be held at the Elk Springs Cemetery in Monticello, KY. Memorials may be made to the Rush County Community Foundation Rush County Education Fund 117 N.
