About Steven M. Land, 68, a lifelong Rushville resident passed away Thursday, March 3, 2016 in Indianapolis, IN with his loving family by his side.

Steve was born in Rushville on April 27, 1947 to the late Delmer H. and Janet M. (Wylie) Land. He was a 1966 graduate of Rushville High School.

Steve married Sande Bane on June 28, 1975 and she survives. Steve was a member of Trinity United Presbyterian Church, Rushville. Steve was very active in youth organizations and was a founding member of the Rush County T-Ball. Steve served in the US Air Force from 1966 to 1970. Steve was a retired supervisor for the Indiana Dept. of Transportation for over 30 years. He was the Rush County Veterans Service Officer for several years, a member of the American Legion and the VFW of Rushville, the Vietnam Veterans Association and a past president of the Rush County Veterans Memorial Association where he was instrumental in the construction of the Veterans Memorial Bridge and the replacement of the Civil War Soldiers Memorial at East Hill Cemetery.

In addition to his wife Sande of Rushville, Steve is survived by 2 sons, Mike (Karena Binder) of Rushville and Patrick (Amy Sorensen) of Bloomington, 2 brothers, Jeffrey R. Land and Christopher S. Land both of Rushville, a sister Lori S. Land of Rushville, 2 grandchildren, Zach Binder (Carly Smith) and Audrey Land, 1 great grandchild, Brayden Binder and several nieces and nephews.

Steve was preceded in death by his parents.

Services will be held at 10 AM Monday, March 7, 2016 at Moster Mortuary, Rushville. Pastor John Wall will preside. Friends are welcome to visit from 2-6 PM Sunday March 6, 2016 at the mortuary.

Burial will be in Rushville’s East Hill Cemetery.

Military rites will be observed at the mortuary.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Rush County Veterans Memorial Association.
