| About | Susan J. Kirkpatrick,66, a lifelong Rush County resident, passed away at 4:33 PM Monday, November 1, 2010 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Susan Abernathy was born on October 14, 1944 in Rushville, IN to Gail S and Dorothy (Clifton) Abernathy, both deceased. Susan was a 1962 graduate of Rushville High School. She obtained her Elementary Education degree from Indiana University and later her Master's degree from Ball State University. She was an elementary teacher for nearly 30 years in the Mays & Rushville Elementary School systems. She was a member of Center Christian Church for over 40 years where she helped in the nursery, sang in the choir & was a Sunday School teacher. Susan was active in Tri Kappa, was a volunteer at Rush Memorial Hospital, member of the Food-Fad & Fashion Home Ec Club and a member of the Indiana State retired teachers' association. Susan leaves behind a son, Matthew and wife Tricia Kirkpatrick of Chesterfield, MO, a daughter, Jennifer Trobe of Rushville, a brother, Steve & wife Barbara Abernathy of Rushville and 6 grandchildren, Samantha & Emily Trobe, Ashlyn, Jaela, Bryce and Makenna Kirkpatrick. Bill Worrell & Ronnie Sams will preside. Memorial contributions may be made to Rush County Cancer or the Harold Clifton Scholarship Fund, both thru the Rush County Community Foundation or the Memorial Fund at Center Christian Church.
