About | RUSHVILLE — Sylvia J. Mullins, 57, of Connersville, went home to be in the arms of the Lord Friday morning Nov. 18, 2011, in the emergency room of the Fayette Regional Health Systems, after becoming ill at her home. Although her death was unexpected, she had been in failing health for some time. She was born June 8, 1954, in Charleston, S.C., the daughter of William and Alberta Moormann Smith. Sylvia moved to Rushville with her family and graduated from high school here in 1972, later attending Southern Ohio University where she studied office administration. On July 19, 1974, she was married in Rushville to Raymond L. Mullins of Rushville and they raised two children, Leona "Buffy" and Bradley. For more than nineteen years, she was employed at Ford Electronics and Refrigeration and later, Visteon, retiring there due to health concerns. Sylvia was a member of Grandview Word of Life and had been attending Church of Revelations. She was a member of "Biker's with Hearts," and the Amvets Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed crafts and sewing, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She had a big heart and would do anything for someone in their time of need. Survivors include her husband of thirty-seven years, Ray Mullins, of Connersville; a daughter, Leona "Buffy" Seibers, and her husband, Danny of Connersville; a son, Bradley Mullins, of Connersville; a step-daughter, Tami Vanover, and her husband, Nick, of Somerset, Ky.; six grandchildren, Tori Johnson, Levi Johnson, Danyelle Mullins, Kelsey Bowling, Alexis Mullins and Derek Seibers; a great-granddaughter, Raegan Johnson; three brothers, William Smith of Connersville, Charles Smith and his wife, Lurinda, of Arlington and Steve Smith and his wife, Donna, of Beaufort, S.C.; a sister, Theresa Swope, and her husband, Raoul, of Kansas City, Kan. She was also blessed with a number of nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandmother, Florine Moormann; a son, Ray Mullins, Jr.; and a brother, James Smith. Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2011, at Miller, Moster, Robbins Funeral Home where a memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. that evening with Rev. Kay Isaacs officiating. Burial will be held at East Hill Cemetery in Rushville. Guests may also visit online anytime at millermosterrobbins.com.
